Vienna Ensemble Pro Not Scanning Vst Plugins

Here are DAW specific issues and solutions we've found when working with MOVEMENT:

Setting up a Multi-channel VSTi configuation using VE or VE Pro in Notion. Start the Vienna Ensemble (Pro) Server. Start Notion; For VE, go to VSL Special EditionSpecial StaffsEmtpy Ensemble. For VE Pro, go to VSL Special Edition PROSpecial StaffsEmtpy Ensemble. This will create a staff for VE or VE Pro. You will not put anything in this.

Pro Tools Users

Since we added mono-stereo mode, please note that when you open sessions that were saved with v1.0.2, all mono instances of MOVEMENT will automatically be converted to mono-stereo instances of the plugin. This means that the output path of the track will now be stereo, and be aware that Pro Tools might automatically set the pan of the track’s left channel to center. This can easily be overcome by adjusting the left channel pan automation (of the track, not MOVEMENT) to be ‘<100.’ If you wish to continue using the mono version of the plugin, you can simply click on the MOVEMENT insert, hold and reselect MOVEMENT (mono) without losing any plugin settings.

Logic 9 (32 bit) Users (updated 7.14.2016)

The installer will install a single AU file that is now both 32 and 64 bit. Before running the MOVEMENT installer, please do the following to ensure that Logic’s preferences are no longer looking for the 64 bit only AU:

  1. With Logic closed (quit), navigate to Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
  2. Delete Movement.component
  3. Open Logic, allowing the app to scan for plugins, then quit Logic once it’s finished loading
  4. Run the MOVEMENT installer

You should now be able to find MOVEMENT in your list of 32 bit AUs.

Vienna Ensemble Pro (PC/Mac)

In General, avoid using MOVEMENT within VE Pro itself, use MOVEMENT in your host DAW. VE Pro has a hard time dealing with VST plugins that use a side-chain input (such as MOVEMENT). This issue is only pertaining to the VST format of the plugin, there are no such known issues with the AU version (Mac only) of MOVEMENT in VE Pro.

Studio One Users (PC)

If Studio One doesn’t find the VST3 version MOVEMENT in your plugins location, move it to

32 bit: C:Program Files (x86)Common FilesVST3

64 bit: C:Program FilesCommon FilesVST3

Cakewalk Sonar (PC)

You might be familiar with the following error message

Don’t be alarmed, this is not as serious as it might look and it only pertains to the VST version of MOVEMENT (not VST3). We’re still working out the fix for this error message, but in the meantime you can click ‘disable’ and use the VST3 version of MOVEMENT.

Digital Performer 8 Users (Mac – AU)

When using MOVEMENT as an AU, you must assign a track to MOVEMENT’s sidechain input (within the DP plugin wrapper) to activate the main stereo outputs of the plugin. The assigned track can be a blank audio track, but MOVEMENT as an AU needs needs to have a source assigned to the sidechain input in DP8. This does not apply to VST versions of MOVEMENT in DP8.

Cubase 8 Users (PC)

If you can’t locate the VST3 version of MOVEMENT in Cubase, move the MOVEMENT VST3 files to

C:Program FilesSteinbergCubase8VST3

For all PC users

MOVEMENT now utilizes your machine’s Graphical Processing Unit (GPU) to handle the plugin’s motion graphics. If your GPU is not updated, you might experience graphical lags in your DAW, freezes, or other graphics related issues. Make sure to update your GPU to ensure optimal performance. If you use an AMD graphics processor, you might still notice high CPU, in which case please get in touch with us and we’ll send you an installer for a version of MOVEMENT that keeps motion graphics handled by the CPU.

Multi-Computer Setup

A typical multi-computer setup with Vienna Ensemble Pro may look as follows:

Each Vienna Ensemble Pro Networked Computer needs to have a ViennaKey containing the licenses for the given Vienna Instruments Collections (Epic Orchestra on one computer) and the Vienna Ensemble Pro license connected. You will also need the content of your Vienna Instruments Collections available and assigned in your Directory Manager (described in your Vienna Instruments Manual)!

On a Mac, unzip the Vienna Ensemble Pro OS X installer and run the installation. After accepting the license agreement, you will be asked for a destination folder.

On a PC, run the Vienna Ensemble Pro WIN installer . You will also be asked for the location of your sequencer's VST plug-in folder . You can specify another directory for the plug-in, but it should remain within the sequencer's plug-in path.

Single Computer Setup

Of course this is the easiest way to use Vienna Ensemble Pro. Simply install the software, make sure your ViennaKey with the Vienna Ensemble Pro license is connected – done!

Quickstart

Vienna Ensemble Pro Not Scanning Vst Plugins

Ensure that a ViennaKey with a Vienna Ensemble Pro 7 license (or demo license) is connected to your master computer. Then

  1. Launch Vienna Ensemble Pro Server or Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (64-bit).

  2. In your sequencer, insert Vienna Ensemble Pro as a VST/VST3/AU/AAX/MAS instrument.

  3. The Vienna Ensemble Pro Plug-in will open. Click Connect and choose 127.0.0.1 localhost [64] (NEW), on Windows also also available: 127.0.0.1 localhost [32] (NEW).

  4. A new instance of Vienna Ensemble Pro appears – and you can start exploring right away.

To connect to a Vienna Ensemble Pro Server on a networked computer over LAN, connect your ViennaKey to your networked computer and start the Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (Win) or Vienna Ensemble Pro Server (64-bit) – then proceed with step 2 from above. Provided your network connection works properly, you will see the IP address of your networked computer instead of 127.0.0.1.
